They are a aquatic mole and like soggy and swampy areas. It's always a possibility to get one when trapping around water. We have quite a few around my area. Try putting that trapline trap in a chipmunk hole. Works great.

Oh so that's why it's always wet , should be a good year for chipmunk damage , little buggers, my uncle went down to Texas every winter well one winter chipmunk got in the house and chewed his wires which popped the breaker and the heater went out ,then his pipes froze and busted then flooded his house all winter long , cause 20,000 in damage . The chipmunk really got it after that he bought a 22 scoped in rifle

I trapped my first 2 about 3 years ago and got another this year. So, yeah, but not many. If we do get them, they are in yards that are mostly flooded.

Seems like the ones I get in yards are the small ones I know they get big because I found one laying on a trail once and that thing was a monster
