Have I tried it? No. Do I think it will work? Absolutely. Why? Animals are lazier than a third generation welfare recipient!

No go here needs to Be a L shape or apron as its called , 1/2 hardware cloth 6 " down and 18 " out makes a great barrier I give a 5 year warranty and it's never failed , use pipe strap to attach it to the deck or shed , if you do use it watch for wire and water lines

lol no go here , is that trademarked pesky , i've always used the same method as pesky speaks about but i've seen more then a few spots were that stuff would be a much simpler install then digging in an L shape setup

I think it will work because our friend Alan Huot sells it and I know he did some research on it. I am similar to that 3rd gen welfare recipient I like easy just like most animals. In most situations and it does look easy to install in not rocky or rooted soil. If there is no air current available it would have a high success rate. However in most situations I am going to do what Pesty said. I am going to take the 4 dollars a foot for the cost of the materials and 155 dollars for the intallation tool and apply it to my labor cost. Hopefully someone else doing the digging.
In situations where there is a gap between the building and the ground and it is necessary for ventilation or ornamental purposes I could see me laying the wire down horizontal and driving this product thru the wire making a professional appearance. In those situations without the wire buried horizontal I think the air current and protection the building offers from predators animals would be more likely to dig under it.
It looks like you could use your scrap pieces as trap forks or fencing for flush mounting cages.

Sleep'n with an animal..I can help.
Do not use both feet when testing the depth or temperature of the water
Your Friend,
Paul Brooker

What Paul said; good idea, huge price. But what if the prongs deflect on a rock and spread to make an unacceptable gap?
