I noticed in the video the cracks in the chimney crown. Do you provide the service of applying crown coat. I take pictures of the crown with cracks and show the homeowner. I have not had anyone turn me down on applying crown coat to it. Great add on.

That is a good idea ,I have chalked some before , you need some kinda chimney lic to repair the chimney and you never now who your working for even if it's just I simple fix . They all need fixed . That's what blows out the chimney when the ice gets in there . The lic needed is a hard test I hear . I'll check into it , thanks for the idea

Hey Pesky

I never did chimney repair for the same reasons other then replacing caps. I don't really know squat to put my name on a chimney and seems like the ones with bats and other critters I see seem to be hanging off the home like a leaning tower of Pisa anyway" . What I am saying I have seen some bad looking chimneys that I never would of dreamed of trying to fix.

Over the years I have done a few podcasts on this same topic

2008- http://raccoonremoval.us/podcasts/nwco-chimney-concerns-trapping-wpn-podcast/

Bob Evans, Maynard Stanley, Doug Fields and their special guests will be discussing the basics of chimney trapping & other NWCO topics of the day.The show is actually in three parts:
Includes a Short 9/11 Tribute by Dr Stephen VanTassel -this showed actually aired on 9/11/08

2010- http://raccoonremoval.us/podcasts/raccoons-in-chimneys/

I dropped Ron Jones a line today and asked his opinions on raccoons in chimneys and how to handle them. here is one experienced mans professional opinion on how raccoons in Southern New jersey are behaving at this time of year… December 15, 2010

good job Pesky and good video. Good advice Frank. I would do that but most of my customers won't do the noosing or chase the mother up the chimney. What I do occasionally since I am alone is I have some metal plates with a bolt welded on them so I can screw them onto a chimney rod. I put it down the chimney past the tiles and do the hokey pokey shaking it all about until the coon starts up the chimney. Then I pull it into the flue so she can't go back down and walk it out then cap the chimney and get the babies out.
I think I am going to figure out a way to stabilize the plate and rod so I can noose the adult giving me more options with the babies.
I have a hard time euthanizing babies and it makes people feel good that even though you traumatized the coon family burglarizing their home you released them all together with a basket of food and tickets to disney world.

Sleep'n with an animal..I can help.

I just take a chimney cleaning pole which comes in 4 foot and screws together and raddle her up , the comstock chimney trap works good if I'm alone . I release all my animals but beaver ,coyote , muskrat and the city rats I move them to customers house that have been mean or dint pay up . I took brick laying in trade school so I know how to do it but I just hate to get in trouble over it , but the chimney guys are doing animal removal now so maybe these two jobs are coming together . I wonder if I charged to just chalk the cap would be a problem . I check that out ,having the iPad is a great way to sell jobs , it has a video cam then just take it down and show them , there all wanting a iPad as it is . This google earth on the iPad is very help full on scouting out coyote jobs , I can tell right where I need to set up ,
