As we're headed to the turkey woods .i get this call on a coon problem , which I did land the job.the customer had called the twp and and they told him he would need a fur trappers lic before he could set traps for his coon . He feels why not just call a company instead of doing it him self seeing he needs a lic . I never realized that these city's and twp that drop off traps for there residences to use is causing people to break state law . In mi you need a trappers lic to trap some animals that fall under fur harvester rules and a small game for the animals that don't , even if you have the wildlife control permit . This rule would also apply to company's that lease there traps to get around the trap check law . In mi you also need to take hunters safety to get a small game lic. Good laws

I wish more people knew that. Animal shelters are the worst. They loan out traps and the customers relocates the animal. Which is also illegal without a permit. A simple letter to these agencys from the DNR along with a little follow up would put an end to that.

All of that stuff is perfectly legal in Wisconsin. It is also legal to use a more violent means to get rid of your problem. But Mr.Woozy can't stand blood so he rents a trap from the Inhumane Society. When he catches an animal it growls, hisses, or sprays at him. That's when he calls me up and I tell him that I charge to come out and remove his victim. That when he says, "Never mind, I'll just wait 'til it dies and remove it myself." How about a big round of applause for the Inhumane Society and all their inhumane customers!

P.S. I can only hope that they reading this too.

Dave, every time I read regulations like those I find out that I've been doing stuff wrong for thirty years, but I solved the problem. I quit reading them!

Nothing wrong with going above and beyond the regulations!

That's only on family farms Dave , also has to be a family member , the stuff on the website and there print has miss prints', that's why they have the disclaimer on there , it was funny I watched the last meet the DNR on PBS ,they have people call in and ask Q to the three top DNR guys , they talked on this over and over , they said people get this one wrong all the time , well I wonder why . If you read the website your like open season , you need to look at the law books , thats in the disclaimer as well . They must hire out when they wright this stuff for the guide books .

No permit needed , still need a lic , get caught driving down the road with a truck load of coon that's legal because that's what the permit is for transport. , the trapping with no lic is a big problem , each coon is one charge , three charges no more permit or truck , 90 days in jail , three years no lic to trap . Coyote you don't need a fur harvesters but still need a small game , skunk and woodchuck squirrel are under small game .

The permit only covers the transport part , still need your reg lic of small game and trapping , if your a farmer no lic needed . The farmer his wife and kids are the only ones that don't need a lic

Look at what a permit allows one to do.
