Wednesday, my son found his first bat pups of the year. A little earlier than usual for this area. Is anyone else finding bat pups yet? He also picked up two armadillo pups that were roaming around a lawn. They are about the size of a large rat. I usually don’t see armadillo pups until mid to late June.

Ron and Dave,

What are your nighttime temps these last few weeks? I suppose daytime you are getting up where we are, wondering when we'll start seeing them.
We are running a bridge thermal roost study this year, so first time we've had eyes on 2X per week. Looking forward to documenting maternity temps for a variety of species.

We are getting up to 85-90 daytime but still dropping nearly to freezing at night.

Justin

Justin,
AccuWeather.com has some good historical weather data. We had a warmer than normal winter here; looks like we were warmer than you were. Be sure to check the colonies closely. Sometimes the pups are difficult to see, especially during cool weather or when they are suckling.
Historical weather data for Dothan, AL
For Albuquerque
