Anyone else doing any Plantation trapping? I've been working on 2 different sites predator trapping. These sites have more than 1500 acres and are easily trapped by my truck, as the roads and property lines are well taken care of.I've been able to set traps on edges of pines, corners of duck impoundments as well as corn fields, all which make trap setting and travel routes easily located. The coyotes and the cats are being taken regularly. Picked up several beautiful gray fox as well. I will post some pics when I can down size them.....Thanks Bob

Bob, don't downsize them on my account; I've got a 40 inch screen. You guys have no idea how good your pictures really look.

The only problem I am having is keeping all the coon and possums out of my sets. LOL I have been wondering what has been eating 2 different baited sets and this morning I found out that it a weasel. The poundage on the traps are set as to not catch the small critters, so I will have to regroup. Everyday I average 8 or 9 miles on each site checking and re-setting traps, I think when this is all done I will need a new truck door. LOL

I have been pulling coons and possums off the deer feeder sheds lately. I have been using cage traps cause of the amount of deer using the feeders. Seems like the squirrels are eating as much as the deer. The coyotes have been hanging out at the plantation next to the one we're working on right now.

South Carolina I belive has just changed their regulation to help Quail plantations.

Here they target nest predators. Most use peanuts and peanut butter in winter, and place an egg or two in the back of the trap in the warmer months due to fire ants.(in the cages)

The progressive plantations here pay a trapper to come in.

Kirk, that is exactly what I'm doing here is to restore the quail and turkey populations with the removal of the coon and possums. You are right with the fire ants, they have been terrible. I finally decided to use ping pong balls with some fish oil as an attractant in my cages. I am now working 3 different plantations now, all 3 want the coyotes gone as well.
