I read in the PA Outdoor news, that Lancaster county where I live has 1564 licensed trappers. That is one county. It doesn't take into account the Amish, and Mennonite that trap on their own land without a license. I said often we had over 500 trappers in our county, guess I should adjust that up about 3x.

I know a friend that lives about 5 miles from me caught 400,and a couple others take 25-100,but most don't catch many and many catch none.

We have very few in my county that actually "trap"..many folks keep a few traps around for pests but thats about it..I was the only beaver trapper around for several counties..One other started last season it seems but they stayed on the WMA's..Didnt hurt the population any..I came behind them and caught plenty but there was plenty trap shy already to..Most of our trappers are in the central and western part of Ky where its somewhat flat,LOL

We currently have 2998 registered trappers in my county, but I think when I accidentily registered 2050 times online, that may have something to do with the high number. Still, I can't catch anything but a cold.

Phil, you have no competition! One would probably be hard pressed to find someone in your area dumb enough to work as hard as you do. Heck, just setting up your season catch picture is more work then most would entertain...

I live in maryland within 22 shot of pa.A couple of my maryland farmers had farm land in pa no one lived on.I put out my 80.00 for several years to trap in york co.pa.The last year I trapped trappers was everywere.Had 4 on my best farm.Thay just trap with out asking.I just keep trapping as I had the best locations. Then thay started takeing my catch and my traps so I gave up trapping in PA.Its been 5 years now I think. One farm has some gray fox this year and I am thinking of trying again this year Anyone want to loan me 80 bucks and some old traps? LOL
