Oh we where late that year for first ice that year and it was plenty thick to hold you . Even if we happen to fall threw the waters only like a foot deep with a hard packed sand bottom . You could just step back out . The perch come in and out there when they go on the feed .

Yes ice fishing you need to know what your standing on and whats under that . Rock hard clear ice is much safer than cloudy type ice .

There can be hidden danger like a spring hole or a current kicking up causing one spot to be thin.

I always go first and have trained my kids to react . Like fall out to spred your weigh out . How to get out if that doesn't work ect .

Much safer than playing football at school or even walk down the side walk . But still some just don't understand why people ice fish .

It's a good idea to have a ice spud and check the ice as you go out if you haven't already been out there . People ice fish up here more than people summer fish . Fish out of ice cold water tastes much better

If you wonder what trev bob jr is looking at in pic 3
If you look at that chuck of ice we had 4"of good clear hard ice and considered plenty to hold a ATV 8" it will hold your truck not saying I would go there I need like 14"before ill drive out .need to watch if there's deep snow on the ice because it can make the ice slush

This what we use to get the pike to stick his head in the hole so we can spear him right behide the head .its called a decoy sometimes we use a live fish like this or a hand carved fish or both .if you like to sit at deer stand you'll like this .very fun and warm because its a heated shanty or dark house fish house .people out in Minnesota even put hot tubs in there ice house
This are adveture van .might look funny but its all wheel drive and will go places that basic 4+4 trucks can't . We can have all are stuff in there ready go so were always ready because you never when time will open up .yes where out on the ice in about 8 foot of water

It's hard to explain. Put a shiny thing with a hook on one end of a piece of string, and an idiot at the other end. Then go to where there is water, drink beer and throw the shiny thing in the water, then go home.

If you want to know what "catching" is, look at Pesk's pictures that show him holding creatures without fur or feathers.

In the spring we work dusk till dawn farming, I get a hour lunchbreak at noon and sneak off to some manmade turnpike ponds. I get anywhere from 20-30 nice gills off the beds before having to be back at work. Put them on ice till the days over. Makes for some late nights cleaning but they add up after a week or so!
