How long would you say your
Typical bat job takes you?
Kasey, I'd agree and expect as you know this is widely variable.
But.
Simple jobs with no attics, very few holes, well maintained home, 1 full day first trip to seal and place excluders (if right time of year), next trip 7-10 days later for me, 3-5 hours depending to remove the excluders and seal those spots.
Same type of home, but swiss cheese siding and exterior, maybe 2-4 days outside and placement of one ways, then 7-10 days later, 4-6 hours to remove and finish seal.
Home with attic wanting/needing clean out - way too variable, but above the prior description for time.
Home with attic, no clean out needed, or only minor can be in the smaller category on time.
That of course is as clear as mud right?
The basic things anyone who has done any bat work knows about what and how it is going to go would be for me;
- type of home structure (brick, vinyl, wood exterior)
- state of disrepair (how many holes, gaps, cracks above "bat level")
- attic or no attic?
- clean up or not needed?
- height (lift needed or ladder work)
Many other factors, but those for me are the basics for how long it will take me, of course I work alone or with one
helper, like many. But if you have a crew of 4-5 guys on a bat job, you might be out quickly but your man hours
could still put you as high on the bid.
Anyway, I know most didn't touch this post because there are too many factors, but in reality we can discuss it
like anything else, and we will all disagree for the most part, and that is the nature of the beast.
I learn a tons sometimes from folks I don't expect to learn from, and sometimes things they don't mean to teach
in their post or thread.
So there is my .02
