Pesky, I can only hope that you posted this for someone who cares. Did you ever happen to notice that when we get ADC calls for beaver and otter, they ain't worth skinning? I am happy to say that after skinning many thousands of animules, I have never skinned a single one in the 24 years I've been in this business. ( And my hands are finally beginning to heal )

Some guys will skin out the beaver just to get the tastie free meat . Others might wish to learn how to trap beaver and otter hands on at a professional level . You wanta be a beaver wacker then go , maybee your already good at wacking your beaver but wish to learn the power of a 2 dollar snare then go . If your not wishing or needing to learn anymore then you owe it to help train so you don't end up being a cage trapper . Could be your a great coyote trapper that likes to hunt deer then go train guys to trap coyote . If your a arm chair expert then just go to bingo .

Pesky, I hear what you say about passing on your expertise to others, loud and clear.

The problem is, I can't explain it to myself so how in the heck do I explain it to others. Here's a good example.

One of out techs was having no luck at all catching grey squirrels that had stuffed themselves with hickory nuts.

I went to the job myself and was astounded by the number of squirrels in this customer's yard.

I went back the next day with five two door traps and three skunk size traps. Then I did something I had never done before.

I spread peanut butter on the pans and spread whole kernel corn on the peanut butter. I've caught eight of them in a couple of days.

I hate it when the guys spread stuff on the pan but now I did it myself and it's working. How do you explain that?

See Pesky, this is exactly what I mean about knowing your customer and who they are. This customer wants every squirrel in southeastern Wisconsin caught and sent to central Michigan. He was going to have us quit trapping until I came along and started catching them again. He has already asked me to come back in November when his wife sets out the bird feeders. They aren't on his house but his driveway was starting to look like it was made of hickory nut shells.
