As much as I've talked ugly about him, as much as he's done to make all of us look bad, as unprofessional as he is, I found myself in a situation yesterday where I had to do something that would have made Turtle Man himself proud of me.
I got a call from a dentist office about a squirrel problem. So I show up not really expecting to find the squirrel itself in the attic, rather just the mess he'd left behind. As I was finishing up my inspection I heard a noise behind me. Just a faint scratching sound. I turned to see the fiberglass insulation on a wall moving. Well... Ain't that a fine "Howdy do"? He's climbing the wall inside the insulation and I ain't got a thing to catch him with!.
Not knowing what else to do and realizing that this is what they are paying me for I slap one hand against him to pin him down. I can feel his little body and hear him squeaking. So, determining where his head is beneath the fiberglass, I keep him pinned with my left hand and pound him with my right fist.... The squirming stops and all is silent. I got him!
I pull the insulation back a bit and his little gray body falls out and thuds on the floor. Then's when it dawns on me. Ain't this exactly what Turtle Man would have done?
I'm headed to town right now to find myself some short tongs and a small cage to put the next one in.
