Got called yesterday for a dead deer needing removed . on the way there I was thinking seeing that it's deer season now I should look the deer over well to see if it's been shot . Don't wanta be pulled over with a untagged deer if it's been shot .

I ended up getting there around 8:30 pm and noticed the deer had cord wrapped around it hind legs and the coyote had eaten some . I did check the deer over well for any kinda wounds but couldn't see any . No sign it had been hit by a car ether so things just didn't seem right to me .things just not adding up .

I explaned my problem with the customer and asked for any kinda info but they had none . So back to the deer To prep the animal for removal .i notice some foot prints in the dirt and started tracking the tracks . I started finding deer hair and a drag mark and followed it to a house about a 100 yards away . These are million dollar homes . The drag mark ended at the driveway or atleast I decided to back out and not let the people know I was on to the fact they for some reason dumped a deer on there niegbor . This seemed odd to me to . Why not just drag the deer straight back into there part of the wood lot . My boy said because that way they don't smell it . I don't know what heck is going on .

I talked to the customer and ask them if it was ok if I called out the DNR and have them give there ok for removal . I said I don't wish to start any drama with there neighbors . I told them for starters it's a crime to dumb a deer on a persons land . I said I'm not sure what it had died from ether . Could have been a small cal rifle bullet .
The customer said that they had caught some kids back there shooting geese in the head with there pellet guns . They were shooting them just for something to do . They called the police and DNR came out as well . Then news crews and the thing really got crazy .kids where 13 at the time and it was a couple of years ago .

Ok so now things are really not adding up . I don't normaly call the DNR but try to explan to people not know better they need to stop . But that's just little things. A deer is different . Why waist a deer for one . Are these kids now older looking for pay back . Was this deer eating the niegbors flowers . Could be the neighbor found it in his yard and had his landscaper drag it back there .

Here anytime we intend to remove a deer carcass the D.E.C. must be contacted for prior approval. They don't issue a tag,but get your NWCO number, location of the deer, where it is going for disposal, and they ask if you could inform them if it looks to have been shot, and not a road kill that made it to someones yard. Did you ever find out the rest of the story where that deer came from ?

The local CO has a lot of ground to cover so hard to say when he will have time to investigate the deer . He has my number but hasn't called yet . I hate to waist the guys time so I hope I'm not in the wrong by placing the call . I figur it's up to them at this point . I just don't understand why they took it out of there way by taking over to the neighbors house .
Almost think its pay back over the goose thing .
I hope it's just a honest mistake and only wish to get the deer out of there yard .
Would rather get a call ok your good to go on the removal .
The house is way back in this sub so if had been hit by a car it would traveled some distance before dieing . Posable a speeding car in the sub but there's no sign of being hit by a car ether . I know road kill well . Could have been shot with bird shot . . I hear more ill post more

Well met the CO out to the Deer and it all ended very well . It turns just a honest mistake of one neighbor trying to help the other . The deer died out by the road and the home owner called around asking for help but just didn't no the right people to call . She honestly tried to have it removed properly . Shes a older classie type lady that any buddy would be happy to call grandma . It turns this deer has been a true problem for a few days . The neighbor across the street was just trying to help by dragging the deer back in the woods but didn't understand exactly the property line and placed on the other neighbor land . The CO was very professional at handling this problem and explaned that even if I had been placed on the right land it is still not legal to do so . He also explaned why there are these type of laws . So basically the CO gave them a verble warning but in a very nice way . The CO also handed out his cards so they would know the right channels to go threw in case a wildlife problem should come again . I truly feel now that calling the DNR was the right move on my part as he was able to resolve this issue and all party's involved where left with a smile on there face . This CO would make a great model for all COs as to handling the public with there problems with wildlife .

I should explane the fear the CO had of what this deer could had died from when I first talked to him . Once the CO got there he new this wasn't the problem , I'll explane later
