Maybe in a few years I'll get to stop prefacing my posts with "I'm new to this...", but having only been doing ADC work for a couple of years I haven't learned how the "season" runs for armadillos. Didn't do a lot of dillo trapping the first year but have been covered up this summer. Can somebody let me know if and when they start to slow down for the winter?

First hard freeze will slow it down some but they do not hibernate so expect calls at anytime.

...and you may see them switch from being nocturnal to diurnal.

Thanks. So I'm guessing to expect it to take longer to get them in the trap as they slow down their activity.

If your weather is 40 or above and wet you should not have any problem catching armadillos. As long as the soil is soft and they can grub you can expect to be solving armadillo problems.

I live in armadillo country, its gets into the low single digits here. I can expect armadillo calls anytime the ground is soft enough for them to forage.

Not sure about the hibernation thing but I do agree with Warrior since I can find them anytime we have a warm spell. I expect they go into the ground to keep finding food where the soil is easier to go underground for food when it's cold.

I found this article useful http://armadillo-online.org/expansion.html

Interesting artcle, Robb.
You get single-digit temps?? In Florida? We hardly ever do - maybe a coupla times a year.
