Cat lady with 7 cats, one goes missing. A few days later there is a horrible odor along with flies. She calls the landlord a month later and tells him she is moving to a motel until he fixes the stench. Did I mention the cat was still missing? Well, Mr. landlord found the cat, dead behind the couch. I got the call to remove the mummified carcass that had welded itself to both the drywall and the couch. Oh by the way, she wanted the remains for a proper burial.

Sigh.

The question on everybody's mind is...who mummified the cat and how could a mummified cat stink??

Had a similar situation a few years back. An old lady, on government assistance and wheelchair-bound, was missing her cat. Her caretakers knew it was dead in the apartment. I found it behind a dresser and it was definitely not mummified! I was told to keep the story from the old lady; it would have broken her heart. Poor old gal.
