First and foremost I want to wish a Merry Christmas to all of you! Remember the reason for the season! I was sitting here thinking how to be more effective chasing some deer away from my buddies garden in the spring. I am going to go out and find some closeout electric fan driven yard "ornaments". What I am going to do is install a motion detector to the fan motor and make it come "alive" when motion is detected in the vicinity. I may even hook up a photo-cell to it and a timer for it to intermittantly come on at night. I would like to find one of those dancing "tubes" that you see in front of used car dealerships. What are your thoughts?

Tell your buddy that he should probably get a bunch of used cars to sell, just in case some passers-by get the wrong message. All kidding aside, I know from customers that the motion detector sprinkler works well on deer so I don't see why your idea wouldn't.

Talk to one of the bird solution suppliers about the "dancing man" thing. I've seen it advertised for use on birds in crops.

I know that if you put an electric fence around the garden and put a foil envelope of peanut butter on the wire, THAT deer will not come back to the garden ever again.
