A couple of hours ago the Bradley Center called us. ( This is where all the basketball games worth watching, are played ) It was also named for one of our customers. Anyway, they had a bat flying around and wanted us to send a posse to arrest it. My wife explained that in a building that size, nobody was going to be able to do anything about their bat.

So P.J. just called and said that the cameramen seemed to be more interested in the bat than the game. They decided at halftime to turn off all the lights. ( So that the bat will head for the outside lights, instead of the dark? ) Anyway, I can't wait to read tomorrow's sport section.

P.S. Less proud of Wisconsin than I was ten minutes ago.

Well our bat is now better known than our sheriff. The bat made the Internet big time when he was dive bombing everyone during the Marquette/Providence game.

They weren't taking any chances for the Bucks/Golden State Warriors game. If you're watching the game and one of the guys on the bench is wearing a light blue shirt and carrying a net, that would be my son P.J. ( I am not making this up ) And if he gets the bat, please call. We don't get the Fox Sports Network and I can't find in on the computer.

You should have asked for a CC#, the told them in an deep, athoritative voice, to turn the lighs out.

There was a well known incident some years back during a San Antonio Spurs game where a bat had been dive bombing players on the court and caused a series of game delays while attempts were made to net the bat. Eventually Manu Ginobli(one of my all time favorite players) slapped the bat out of midair with his bare hand--end of problem.

Steve, I was telling Al Krier about just that incident about an hour ago. They didn't get the bat so they have to be on hand for Monday night's Marquette game. My son played against a couple of these guys so he's really lapping this stuff up. Now he'll probably try to convince them to take him on the road too.

Since that was "The Only Bat In The Entire Bradley Center", and the cleaning crew caught it and left it go outside, this could be free basketball games forever. ( And you get paid to attend them )

The NBA has devolved. I love hoops, expecially the 76'ers. Cant't watch it just now. All pro sports are devolving to a caricature, like pro wrestling. Still like to go to Phillies games though. Sigh. Warm summer night in a ball park....
