The sheriff of Milwaukee County ( One of the two most Liberal counties in the state ) has this going for him; he went to the same college my kids graduated from, he ran as a Liberal when everyone knew how conservative he was, and he is black.

Well, today he set the bar really high for those of us that actually call ourselves Conservative. I am going to quote what Sheriff David E. Clark had to say today on the radio.

"Personal safety isn't a spectator sport anymore. I need you in the game. With officers laid off and furloughed, simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option. You could beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under your bed, or you can fight back."

"Take a firearm safety course and handle a firearm, so you can defend yourself until we get there. You have a duty to protect yourself and your family. We're partners now. Can I count on you?"

I have never been more proud to call myself a Wisconsinite! ( Okay, the weather still sucks ) The newspaper was forced to print this on the front page and seeing as how this is a Liberal rag, I can't imagine how much that hurt.

While this might be one of his high points I still can't get over him firing the deputy who called him out for trying to help a drunk motorist get unstuck when he ran off the road two years ago. Then when he got the backlash from the firing he said it was because she didn't process the beer can as evidence even though the department has never done that before.


I agree Paul this was a move in the positive direction and he is right on everything he said. Now he is taking a lot of heat from all the liberals around the State and I am sure he knew that would happen before he even made the remarks. Good for him.

That statement is probably the most honest ones I ever herd come out of a cops mouth.Good for him! I know he will get in trouble for it, and so does he. But there comes a time when being P.C. just doesn't let a guy sleep at night, and it looks like he has reached that time.

Obviously a union guy pushing the bar. And I hear his jurisdiction is rife with corruption (oh my goodness you cannot be serious?")
Any LEO whether State , local police, county sheriff or State Constable, who comes out on the side of the 2nd Amendment, is welcome to the cause.
These folks took an oath to preserve and protect the Constitution. They are either oath keepers or oath breakers. Oath breakers are traitors.

ps: also taking the oath, all military personell, and all elected politicians.

I called Krier to tell him about the Sheriff and he said I was a little late. It went national this morning.

Love it! Over the years my house has been burglarized 5 times. Once when there were several sheriff deputies here after a break-in I told them that if I ever caught someone that I wouldn't need to call the 911. Their response..."That's why we have body bags buddy"!

Thankfully our new Governor made that ok in Wisconsin also. Glad to see we are moving in the right direction in this State.

Nate, while I am very proud of Scott Walker for getting concealed carry passed, it has always been legal to blow somebody away that has broken into your premises. ( There are a few exceptions; Mother-in-laws, Santa Claus, the Easter bunny )

Actually Paul that is not true. I know of 13 cases in Wisconsin that homeowners were charged and convicted of manslaughter for shooting someone who broke into their home. This included drunks who wound up at the wrong house and home invasions. Up until the Castle Doctrine passed last year you could only use deadly force to protect people, not property. The acception to that rule was when a woman was home either alone or with children. Those cases were always thrown out as self defense.

My final in my Community Policing class was a essay on why Wisconsin needed to give homeowners more authority to protect their property (how convienant huh?).

Now "property owners" are protected from criminals. It doesn't have to be a house, it can be a car, or even a purse.

I have yet to talk to a street cop that didn't support CCW laws, and the "Castle Doctrine". I't's when they start looking for the "white shirt" desk jobs they turn politician and start sucking up to those those with the money/power. Remember the courts have ruled time and again that there is no legal requirement for the Government to protect you.

Nate, I'm reasonably sure that a backward glance at the 13 convictions would probably see a lot of unlocked doors, rather than breaking and entering. In between time, a lot of home invasion shootings were thrown out. ( I guess I wouldn't know all this if my son wasn't going to become a cop ) Fortunately, he decided that arresting animals for criminal trespass was a whole lot easier than setting a speed trap up in my driveway.
