This one is from 1939:
1 gallon of coyote urine
1 quart glycerine
Galls of 2 coyotes
12 Anal glands
1 ounce zinc of valerate
1/2 ounce tonquin musk

Latrans, your grandad was or is a smart man.

Did he ever sell his baits or lures?

The above looks more like a lure than a bait, but still well thought out.

I would cut down on the coyote urine added, but I'm sure it worked well the way he wrote it.

Thanks timrose,
He was a govt trapper for years and years, he passed away in 1993 at 90 years old. I just recently got an old trunk of his after my grandmother passed away this summer. I found all his old govt diaries. He also has some coyote getter bait recipes too. I could post some of them too, but some of the ingredients might be hard to come by like burro fat oil or a gallon ground grasshoppers

Here is one of his coyote getter recipes I found interesting:
Finely ground frogs of horses hooves, mix with lamb brains, allow to rot, mix with quantity of zinc of valerate and XYLOL.
His notes say "this mixture aroused interest when little attention was paid to urine-gland lure."

his name was always "sir" to us kids, but some of his govt trapping buddies were Rance Giles and Jacob Ott.
