I'm about to do a complete overhaul of our reporting/tracking system and I'd like to know what devices, (smart phones, tablets) everyone else uses to run credit cards (we use square-up) in the field, and what software you use to keep track of captures, job-sites, clients, etc. I'm trying to find a program that will update my computer from a handheld device that each of my technicians will have.
I can't find a link in the archives and no luck finding a program online. Please PM me if you would like to keep it under wraps.

Rick,
As of now everything is hand written by each tech. and then turned in to the office to be entered into the data base. In a perfect world I'd like to find a tablet (samsung GT-P3113) or equivalent that will run square-up and also support an app that will help us keep track of everything more efficiently.

Dave. Thanks for the info. I remember reading that article a while back. Very informative.
I currently use an Ipad but just for square-up in the office. I'd like to have the techs swipe cards in the field to cut down on costs, but I also want to integrate routing and also keep track of repairs, captures, etc.
I'm a bit technically challenged (building my first website on Frontpage just about drove me nuts). Was there a company that helped you build your app or did you create it using a service like canvas?

It was quite a bit more complex than developing a webpage. You will certainly need a pro...and will need to define the scope so you end getting what you envision.
We can operate the company from anywhere and the options are endless. We could plop a truck in Nashville or acquire a company in Burlinton; and manage it all from the hotel at the WCT conference, lunch with Winkelmann, or a beach on Coronado. We live in an age where anything is possible with a good imagination.

I've been using www.invoice2go.com for about a year now. It's had it's growing pains (when it first came out) but it's really developed into a nice platform for making invoices, POs, Estimates, taking pictures of receipts and logging them in. It's got a calendar app, map app that shows you where you've caught what on the map and it's all in a cloud like everything else these days. Let's me know what's due or about to be due. Then allows you to send reminders. Invoices can be customized with a paypal button for easy remote payment via credit card. It's very simple to use. All drop down menus that you enter yourself for each animal or type of exclusion. You can check it out for free I believe. Also integrates well with Quickbooks. I send my account reports for quarterly earnings as well as a .pdf with pics of all receipts entered in categories for write offs. I enter an invoice on my iphone and it syncs with my other iphone and ipad instantly. You can have different users to track who made each invoice. Everything I need at the moment and I'm completely paper free.
