Hey guys and gals,

I'm not an ADC guy but I figured this forum would have the best info. So, I have a skunk in my back yard that needs to go. I don't think I will have a problem getting him but I obviously do not want him to spray. I have cages foot holds and duke conibears. Also I could probably borrow some belisles if that is what I need to do. From what I understand, he probably will not spray if he is in a cage and I don't startle him. I'm just not sure what to do once he is in the cage. I do have neighbors so a .22 is not an option.

I understand this is a sensitive topic, so if any of you would be willing to send me a pm to impart some of your wisdom I would greatly appreciate it.

I would suggest that you hire someone that does ADC work. I know that is not what you want to hear.
But if you use a pro he will have all the right paper work, traps and know how to deal with the problem. There are State laws that have to be followed when dealing with wild animals. JMO

Everet, I mean no disrespect and I understand your position, but it's not going to happen. For me, in Idaho, I have no legalities to worry about, I am a licensed trapper and I am on private property. I am also kind of frugal, why pay someone for something I can do myself.

Also I noticed your signature "USA 60-63 SGT." I just got to say its always nice seeing other vets on here, USMC 05-09 OIF.

Everet, it's even worse in Wisconsin. You can pretty much do anything you want to any animal or bird that is doing damage on your property. No license needed. ( Kind of makes you wonder where I get the customers from. )

Canoelove:
Did not notice where your are from. In Mi. you can run into problems moving live animals around.
Trapping is not problem, there are no guarantees when it come to spaying. I see someone posted some links for you.

This issue has been solved, thank you to those who responded. I can't figure out how to delete it, but hey have fun with posting your service dates any war you had a part in.

Everet,

In Idaho we have the same regulation, I cannot move a live fur bearer.

They were just getting started in Vietam when I was inlisted. I spent all
my time in Germany except for my basic training. Just lost a good friend
that was a WWII vet. He was in the Marine Corp. You just can not believe
what those guys went through. But no war is a walk in the part by any means.
I was give the honor of raising and lowering the flag at our fire station when
a Mi. service man or woman is killed in action. It is the least we can do!
Sorry, got off the subject.

Canoelove, I purchased one of the PVC traps for skunks. I live in town so I can't use a .22 either. It works pretty slick. Then I just take them out of town to dispatch. I have trapped some in the MB-160. Really kills them quick with hardly any spray, but is kind of non-selctive. FYI, a skunk is not classified as a furbearer in Idaho.

I just bought a pvc trap. cant wait to see how good it works,Ive never had a problem catching them in coon size traps but as I get more into adc I can see the need for sprayproofs.

Phil Nichols, I sent you a PM.

Bob 1454, I checked out the regs and you are right. I should have known, I guess I was just basing my assumption off of our harvest reporting requirements. Also I noticed the otter quota is still open in your region, did you get yours yet?
