Hi there ¡ do you know if racoons like the anis ( alcohol drink ) for baiting the trap with it ?
If not , what is the best bait to catch this animal in a cage trap ??
Thanks a lot

Might check the spelling.
In English, Anis is the proper name for a rectum, (bunghole).
AnisE is a spice,
think annisette is the name of a liqueur.
Anise, the spice is sometimes used in lure/bait making.
If I misunderstood your post, I apologize.

Anise oil can be purchased from WCS (banner at top of page). One of my old tricks is to dip a small feather in anise oil and hang it from a string at the rear of a cage for a visual plus scent. This has also worked with cherry oil as well as I am sure other scents.

The drink would likely evaporate to quick, might leave some scent, but the spice Anise Oil would be better. Better off using grape jelly, marshmallows or peanut butter.

Yes, the adult beverage would disipate rather rapidly. I've used the baking product anise extract (alcohol based tincture) and it dries on the feather rapidly, though a slight aroma is left.
While others are advising you to use grape or sugar products I still think highly enough of anise that I keep a bottle of it on the truck as one of my regulars. Another use is in a trailing lure blend of blackstrap molasses and anise oil (smell Mr Hawbakers raccoon lure sometime).
ate, I read your post to mean you want to avoid non targets specifically domestic felines. If so think fruit or sweet based and avoid anything meat or fish based.

Just off the top of my head here's a list of raccoon baits I've used over the years that isn't as attractive to cats.

marshmallows
licorice
gummy bears
jelly beans
various jams and jellies with grape and blackberry standing out
fresh and old honey
honey comb
brood comb (bee comb from the brood nest)
honey buns/sticky buns/cinnamon rolls
popcorn/potato chips/cheetos
sweet corn
melons (cantaloupe is really preferred)
bananas and over ripe fruit
cotton candy

BTW, anisette or ouzo is such a waste on a raccoon.

Ouzo Number 5. My solders loved to slip a Ouzo in verbally when we were calling cadence" Left Right Ouzo !! Thanks for the memory Warrior. I am sure you have similar memories serving in Germany.

Ate look around some tourist areas that would specialize in foreign candies . I have seen these all over the EU and in the states.

Oh yes, Robb. That's why it'd be a sin to waste it it on a stinking coon. Though I must say a drunken coon can be quite amusing, may I suggest a nice dunkel.

based on the nafa results, am not calling coon "stinking" at this time.

You are correct but after a night of guzzling dunkel stinking fits. LOL
I still have some not so fond memories of Monday morning runs (in more ways than I care to remember) after a weekend of bier.

Okay Robb and David, Goggle Friestadt, Wisconsin. This is where I went to church and school. At least you left Germany in Europe. I still live within 3 miles of it.
