I've got several of these traps and have had problems with all of them (i.e., springs breaking, chain link rusting to the point that there are large holes, misfires/hang-ups). The traps are a little over two years old. I've also had problems with getting replacement parts and support from the manufacturer. Talked to Mr. Korosil personally. A lot of promises, but not much in the way of follow-up. Anyone else had similar experiences?

Also, if someone knowledgeable on replacing the chain link could PM me.

Thanks,

WCS has some Replacement Parts advertised. They may be able to help you. Talk with Alan Huot if possible.

The Koro trap has had some of the same problems like most things. The older springs were a problem and I do think the new ones have changed. I have replaced most of my older springs with the new ones and have not had the breakage. As for the chain link. I had that problem with the origional Hancock traps as well. I replaced all with a heavier gage mesh from a fence company and it wasn't hard. My Hancock traps were very hard to change because they had rivits to grind out on the side bows. The Koro people made a good change there and used cotter pins in one so the repair is easier. The hang up problem is in the dog and the hole that that its attached to is to small. Remove it and drill it out or ream it with a Dremmel tool.
WCS does have chain link replacment kits if you don't want to or can't make your own from heavy chain link.
With these few fixes you should be fine. You will have to replace the chain link agin over time. It's just the nature of the thing. I have replaced my Hancocks which I have had for years at least twice.
If you have any questions I would be happy to talk if you want to. Send me a message and we can find a time to talk.

PS I have 13 koros and 6 Hancocks and 6 Baileys and they all need repair from time to time.

Been using Jim Comstocks beaver traps with good results just for these reasons, not too many parts to break.

I have several Comstocks as well. I like to have many different tools to use and each has it's own nitch to fill. I think the question here was about fixing the Koro and not so much looking for another trap. I know Jim Comstock and he has a great trap and there are others as well. Kirk DeKalb has another good so there are options, and each is good and we should have many different tools to fill different needs. Also anything man made will need repair from time to time reguardless of the type or who makes it.

Don, I can't help but agree but I've asked God to make some traps, but He said, "You already have the deadfall".
