the hit they are about to take with Obamacare?
Uh, O-care is gonna be a huge boon for the medical insurers. Everybody's going to have to get insurance or pay a fine. A well-known secret: Insurance companies will have tons more business; they'll just have to stop screwing their customers.

Nope...we would not get out of bed for $1.79. Exactly. I can not figure out how they came up with this number. It appears they either don't know how they came to that base price or they are not willing to share. I have asked them to give me the name of ANY company that will do it for that price and to date have not received one.

It is sort of like trying to figure out how they set gas prices. Short story. For years schools hired the superintendents. There was a small dist. that did not have a pot to @#$$ in or a window the pitch it out of hired a firm to do the work,$10,000 dollars. I ask why they started doing that and they answered everyone is doing it now days. The person went to a superintendents convention and the subject was on the agenda. So now everyone is doing the same thing. That is how the word get around IMO.

Insurance companies use estimating software. One of the largest software companies is Xactimate. They update their pricing monthly based on local prices. Typically the price is average or better. Things that will not be in the pricing is accessibility, mileage if a long distance, and maybe dump fees. The insurance company should be able to tell you what is include in their pricing. I know on roofing they get their pricing from Home Depot and Lowes.

Around here they think we should do it at the Same rate the insulation company's charge for Fire damage insulation which is around 1.00 A sqr ft for clean out and .74 cents to put it Back in! So 1.74 to crawl in clean insulation isn't Worth it to me!

That makes since. Do use any equipment they would not such as mask, gloves. If so xactimate has a price for it. Is any special handling required, bagging. I would also want to know what the insulation Co. are doing. How do they dispose/ recycle. They are also probably sucking it up into a truck. Can they do that with contamination. Just ideas.

If insulation companies are so cheap then why are you guys not contracting through them? Also it is a lot easier to remove insulation after a fire. Usually a portion of the drywall ceiling is removed.

insurance companies cant tell home owner who they can use and they cant tell you how much they will pay you. it is called price fixing and it is a federal law they cant do it we run a tree service have run it since 1978 and have insurance companies all the time tell us we dont want to pay that but aslong as the homeowner pays his deductible he has the right to use whoever he wants and they can charge accoringly. insurance companies train there people to talk a certain way to make you think they are telling you they wont do something but they really arent saying that that would be illegal. my partner and dad used to sell for an insurance company and they did just that thats why he doesnt sell amymore.
If your going to do it. Do it well.

What if it rat soiled insulation? Most insurances won't cover rodents from what I've been told.

I have never told them anything. That is coming from homeowners. The insurance company was telling the owner that they didn't cover rodents(raccoons).
