So anyone using dynamite to get rid of the dams? I got two about 15' wide by 6/7' high I need gone. Kinda hard to get a backhoe into thinking of blasting them. Any advice? How much to use? Where is the best location to get it into? Anything helps thanks

Without a license, good luck getting any explosives. And if you do get some, be very carefull. Nothing to mess around with.

Might talk to your local fire chief or hard rock miner seeing your Oregon , he can make you up something much better than dynamite and much cheeper .My uncle was fire chief and on his 86 ac started with dynamite fighting his war on beaver . Switch over making his own stuff but used the caps still . Was very cool to watch but the beaver just biult it back as fast as he blew it up . Even put four milk jugs under the lodge it went about 8' in the air came back down never fazed them . Finally hired a trapper solved the problem taking out the 7 beaver . If you ever watch a beaver building a dam how they shove them sticks in there its not that to hard to pull it apart by hand . find a couple teen age boys tell them 200 bucks a dam . Pack them a lunch and don't forget the fishing poles because once the water goes down that deep hole the beaver make infront of the dam will be loaded with fish feeding on the bugs flushing down stream .

Yea I have had alot of beaver removal calls that the customer had removed dams multiple times and wanted to know how to do it correctly. The best way is to remove the beavers that are building the dam or the problem will return quickly. Then remove the dam and stay on top of the beaver population in that area.

What part of Oregon are you from?

Do a search on here. I remember someone posting video of using tannerite. The stuff exploding targets is made of. You might want to check with your dnr because some things in streams are subject to large fines.

Don't do it. Just about anywhere on the west coast you'll end up with big problems due to ESA listing of various races of Chinook and Coho salmon. The last time I did it (about 25 years ago) I nearly ended up in trouble with the State of Washington. Lucky for me I did it on an Indian reservation at the request of the tribe. The State was pretty upset that they couldn't charge me. I can only imagine what would happen now.

I used to do it that way 30 years ago, NO MORE. State does not allow it now and to dangerous. To many projectiles coming at you. You never know what was used in the beaver dam for material, Shopping carts, crow bars, road signs, I probably have not seen it all yet but close.
