I have a question in reference to trapping nuisance beaver in Arkansas. I have quite a few rice farmers in my area asking me to put a dent in some drainage ditch beaver. I'm, at this point not wanting to charge, willing to do this to stay in good graces with my winter time hunting ground owners. I was told today that the depredations permit was only good till April 1st. My question is can I get a permit for myself to trap solely beaver all season without boundaries? Any help would be appreciated greatly.

That is a question that you need to ask The Arkansas Game and Fish fellas to get it right. I did ADC for them for 11 years in the early 90's. I only trapped in the winter months to take advantage of the fur value and the other perks.

OK thank you. I agree with the winter perks. I just try to take care of the guys I lease my winter hunting ground for duck and pheasant. Anytime I have a problem they help so when the beaver hinder their farming and call for me to handle it I want to do just that.

If it helps - Contact Blake Sasse at dbsasse@agfc.state.ar.us or call 877-470-3650 for Arkansas nuisance wildlife questions. Also, here's a list of operators and some of them may already be doing this in your area.

OK thanks. The best I can tell by reading the legal statutes its legal if its a nuisance. Only permit needed is for shooting them at night.
