My son got pulled over today with his whole family in the car. My daughter-in-law gave him her meanest stare, the baby was screaming, my five year old grandaughter was embarrassed nearly to tears, and my three year old grandson, Carter, kept yelling "Take him to jail, Take him to jail!"

No surprise that the cop let him off with a warning.

The last speeding ticket I ever got was a very similar situation. Screaming baby and another little one. Also got a warning. I think the screaming baby is what gets you off. Cop knows you are just trying to get to your destination as fast as possible to get away from the screaming kid.

That screaming baby will be a freshman in high school next year. Oh how the years fly by.

I have put over 1.5 million miles on without one. Have recieved 3 warnings in that time.

Hit two deer but no other accidents.

Very lucky. My time is running out to be so lucky.

Don,t put the miles on like I did.

Kirk, that's interesting. I also traveled more than a million miles between tickets. I have never hit a deer but three of them hit me.

Paul, I never realized that we had a cat herding champion in our midst. We are deeply honored.

Mike, that kind of explains the appearance of your vehicle,

Nate, my grandson will also be a freshman next year. That screaming baby is now 6'5".

The year aint over yet

BTW the best way to get out of a ticket is to haul ALOT of skunk essence in the back of your truck. I squeezed by that way in a town that dont let anybody off. He was choking all the way up to the window and back to the squad.

Thats a good one Adam. I gotta remember that. I did find out that most female cops dont like being called Sweetheart or Sugar when they pull you over here.( Maybe they were ....girls girls)

I wonder if there will be enough coffee and middle fingers to make it through the day.

Paul yes sir. When I was a PM for a big construct comp I learned the art of herding cats. You have to be focused and catlike yourself to be sucsessful. I traveled the and showed my tallents at local rodeos. I'm done with that now and just holding local clinics for future young cat herders. Now I'm busier than a cat in the litter box

Was in a head on(in college) where I topped a hill and there were two cars side by side racing. One tore the whole side of my car off. Didn,t have to open door to step out.

Had I been wearing my seat belt, I would have been cut in two by the belt.

Had two other similiar situations. Also, was the first to come up on a bad wreck. All five were thrown out of the jeep cerokee. Cop said, "ya they weren,t wearing their seat belt". Looked at the smushed-flattened jeep, "ya, but they are all alive".

When I was a kid we were in an accident where my father lost control on black ice and the car drove off a pretty steep hill and none of us were wearing seat belts except my mom and she was the only one who was injured.

For every incident where a seatbelt would of caused injury there is a situation where a seatbelt saved a life. I choose not to wear mine out of laziness and I don't like the way it feels. I will gladly pay $10 about once or twice a year when I get stopped than to wear that miserable thing.

One of the guys I went to high school with is a paramedic. You don't want to get in a discussion with him about seat belts. They not only save lives but countless injuries. ( I don't like them either but I made the mistake of telling him. He was very convincing )

Wink, you are a wise man. For the rest of you: do you ever see a driver in any sanctioned race without a four- or five-point harness?
Do you think you know something all major race associations don't know?
...but don't let science get in the way of your preconcieved notions.

Dave, you are sorta on the money, and sorta taking wooden nickles. I would feel better with a 5 point harness than with a seat belt, in a crash anyway. That one strap over my shoulder tore me all up 20 years ago in a crash. I am still feeling it today. Im sure injuries would have been worse had I not been wearing it, but every time the weather turns my right shoulder reminds me of that crash.
