Anyone ever actually have these work?

Checked a house that our company rents to surgical residents that had an electrical issue. We finally found where ants had gotten into a ground fault receptacle and managed to short it our and popped the breaker and killing everything else on that circuit. The ants were behind the electric pest repeller, several were fried between it and the receptacle.

That's about like the sonic bat repellers covered in guano so many of us have seen.

The list of effective electronic repellants that actually work is rather short starting with electric fencing and bird shock track and pretty much ending with the bird distress players.

I love seeing those on gopher jobs. Or seeing what a coon has done to them in someone's yard.

Good info here:

I've seen bats hanging on the speaker louvers of the sonic gizmos.... yes, while they are plugged in.

Yeah I was never interested in them. Yesterday's episode just made me curious if any of those worked at all.

SniperBBB No doubt a scam but the problem is the public they are loooking for quick cheap answers and seem to be willing to try anything then what is proven.

There is a company out there right now who say they have cornered the market with their magic spray as the one answer to not worry about raccoon roundworm?

The key is to educate the customer that most of it is all snake oil a late 19th century term for a rip off salesmen.

It has been my understanding that they work really well when placed on a box of mothballs with the radio blaring and lots of laser lights flashing.

And just recently I have inside information that proves that electric pest repellers are guaranteed to remove all of your electric pests.

I have a client with a some sort of a noise deterrent that drives me nuts. It's a high pitch, constant noise in their pool area. Obviously it doesn't work for raccoons but they do not have a single lizard outside their house. That's unheard of in these parts. There are usually skinks and anoles just about everywhere here.

Jerry, I have a mosquito repeller that makes a whine at the upper limit of my hearing.

The mole away type make an annoying high pitched buzz that is audible. Was just in a yard with those two days ago, beautiful, peaceful place on the river in the middle of the city and we live in an area that has no moles biologically (maybe the deterrents worked! lol!).

Maybe the lizards are bothered by the sound, or maybe the noise deters the prey items of the lizard or do they treat heavy for insects and have a lowered prey base, or maybe more snakes and predators of lizards? Or maybe the raccoons are doing a great job of catching the herpetofauna?

Would be interesting to know....

I love the gopher mounds we have all over that have a solar spike mole buzzer right on top of them! Priceless, somewhere there is a man on a large island sipping drinks and thinking what a genius the plastic owl, electronic deterrent and various other gizmos including moth ball flakes and such!

smile

I will tell you guys right now, I have 14 hawk and owl decoys ( No, we didn't pay for them ) hanging in my garage and I have never been bothered by birds. Of course, I have two coyote decoys in the basement and I've never had any geese down there either.

Just finished removing the last squirrel and installing gable screening on a house with heavy smell of mothballs, empty squirrel traps bought at Home Depot, and one of those expensive strobe/sonic devices still flashing in the attic. Was a b#$ch of a job since the squirrels had been harrassed and educated for so long. Took me almost a week to get them all caught because the owner was waffling on whether they wanted the gable screens installed. Had they let me install the screens on day one, I'd have caught everything in a posi-set the first two days.

Yup - the people will spend big bux on Granny Clampett's Magic Elixir, but when it comes to paying a pro to do it right...uh, not in the budget...

Guys you ought to do bees. I've had three "I thought a beekeeper would do it for free" calls today. One of those is on a high rise four star hotel and they wanted it done immediately!
