i have seen the armadillo trap on line and would like to build a few if they work. have any of you tried it??? if so how did it work compared to a standard cage trap??? would it be better to build it 12x14x36 or 14x14x36 or 38" or 42" long?

I bought one out of curiosity and ended up building 2 more. They are perfect the size they are but if you have welding skills I would convert the doors to metal "bar doors". They do work very well. I primarily trap with double door cages and drift fence but have been putting one or two of the wooden traps on every job and they do quite well. For testing purposes I always set the wooden traps with no type of funnel situation at all. Of course they need a "diller" in them initially to season them. Amazing that you can only get two out of a sheet of 3/4" PT plywood. You can of course put a piece of plywood under a regular cage and get it seasoned as well, but it seems like the dillers do love the darkness/ burrow look of the wood trap.

JMO, but you would be far better off to order some of Kirk Dekalb's double door advanced traps and slide a piece of plywood in the bottom for absorbing diller stink. You can even season several pieces of plywood with the first diller caught then you'll have your "bait" for the rest of your traps.
