Any recommendations for best shoes for ADC work? I'm mostly referring to structural pest work. Obviously something that works well on ladders and roofs and for feeling for joists under insulation etc. I bought a pair of Red Wing boots a few days ago and the pair I got doesn't provide the needed traction. They have a 30 day no questions asked return policy so they are going back.

I loved my Wolverine boots for general work, but for roofs I always put on the Cougar Paws, for deep grass in the morning or simple muskrat checks it is the swamp boots, and for most of the beaver work it is chest waders.

Yep...I love my Muck boots for the deep wet grass and muddy areas and of course chest waders for beaver work, just can't seem to find the ideal general purpose shoe.

For general everyday wear its Wesco wildland fire boots. For roofs I use Ariat lace up ropers with the non slip sole.

I wear hiking shoes (can't really call them boots anymore). I have high top ones for when I wear pants and low top ones for when I wear shorts.

I used to get on my guys about wearing work boots years ago but then I tried a pair of hiking shoes and have not gone back to boots since.

Only exception is winter. In the winter I wear slip on boots so they are easy on, easy off when going in and out of customer houses.

Stan, being the cheap [Please excuse my language... I'm an idiot] that I am I get good service out the Brazos brand roper style boot. It has a wedge type sole that gives good contact on roofs and being slip on it's easy to shed them at the door of clients house.

Merrell brand shoes have pretty good grip on the roof, are comfortable to wear, and breathe to keep feel cool. On my 4th identical pair. Their boots have waterproof versions but they don't breathe, so I only use those in cooler temps. Merrell available at Bass Pro. Mucks for standing water and mud. Can't imagine wearing hot leather boots all day for critter work anywhere south of Michigan.

Man, here ya gotta be ready for anything lately. I have knee highs in case its raining, and wet weather geer. I have cougar paws which I love on roofs for traction. I wear slippers most of the time so I can jump into what ever I need to fast.

I guess I'm in good company then. I've found myself walking out of the house here lately in crocs and leaving the boots in the passenger side floorboard.

I have worn out my second pair of New Balance 703 Country Walkers. They are a high top athletic shoe with Goretex and are very light. Think I may order another pair of them but wanted to hear what others liked to see if there was something else I wanted to try. Think I will go ahead and invest in the Cougar Paws as well for the roof work.

Mucks on really nasty days...Keens hiking boots for everyday and cougar paws for those steep roofs. The keens do pretty good on roofs as well.
