I've done plenty of nuisance beaver work but have very little experience with problem coon. Got a call from a condo building association....they have a nuisance coon climbing onto their decks and apparently creating toilets. I'm familiar with this routine with otter but had no idea coon did this as well. The coon is bold and has been sent on its way with many pokes with the broom but keeps returning to crap behind a satelite dish and under an air conditioning unit on 2 different decks. I set a cage trap and know for sure it walked close and ignored it on atleast one occasion. The location is next to a restaurant dumpster where I'm sure the coon is gourging itself and probably not motivated to enter the trap. This is a live capture exercise only. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Al

I think you answered your own question. By the dumpster with restaurant scraps.

Your dealing with a bore coon marking his territory . If baits not working try bore coon droppings in the cage from a different coon . Put the cage right on the other droppings . Might try coyote gland lure or coon gland even .

Peskycritter,

Thank you very much for the professional advice. I followed your suggestions and solved their problem. Trapping the dumpster might have been an option but would have been inefficient as I probably could have caught dumpster coons all summer long. Following your advice I was able to solve my customers problem and not the restaurants. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

Al

Try a bucket trap or a trash can trap (The Snare Shop). Coon might be trap shy.
