Learning animal language from prairie dogs

Researchers believe they've decoded some prairie dog language -- and it may lead to new ways of understanding animal talk.

Maybe you can teach them to say Got Prairie Dogs Please Don't Call Dave !!

I am personally nominating the title of this post as the absolute funniest post I have ever seen. If you have seen something funnier, please let me know.

It is funny in this day and age that folks still think we are the only ones communicating with each other. How many deer hunters or turkey hunters don't see how quickly the field clears if one animal spots trouble. I realize this may just be a "nasal blast" but it is nonetheless extremely quick and effective.

I honestly thought this info on p-dogs was well accepted some time ago. Folks have studied their calls relative to type of predator, intrusion by other p-dogs, etc... They show different sounds depending on which is coming and it is part of group fitness.

I think most would agree many of our critters whether domestic or wild, do as much physical communication as they do vocalizing depending on species.

What I enjoy is watching the folks dump food for them in the city here, then the same folks are part of the group that gets paid to do relocation on the back end, and then the cycle starts over again. No joke, this literally happens with urban p-dogs in the west, feeders are often the only certified "relocaters" and get this cycle going which is unreal and sustains these urban pops where they couldn't sustain the numbers they do thanks to feeders.

I've seen WAY too many BIg rattlers in p-dog tunnels to even think about this.

I'm immortalized on trapperman! The P dogs do develope a new call for every situation and person they encounter according to studies. The call they have to describe me sounds something like "here comes that dirty SOB with the big hat and a shovel, run boys he's akin to the grim reaper".

Dave, they probably aren't so polite in there language.

Just because something is legal doesn't make it smart.
