has started to show up in East Central Missouri, according to the MDC.

Bob, We've got a friend in MO who is working with private landowners and cavers and bat biologists to do some amazing surveillance work.
A real great collaboration of private and public sector. Check out the MO bat census, they are great folks, providing lots of education, conservation
and outreach!

Justin

Added a link of when it was confirmed in MO.

I guess Montana just got a big chunk of money to study it. Though I don't believe they have found any yet.

Some of the states getting funding where WNS hasn't been detected is for surveillance and for studying cave environments to see if conditions exist that favor the spread. The hope in the west has been that hot and dry will keep it from getting here. Also that bats are more widely distributed and scattered than eastern/Midwestern bat populations.

Often disease gets to new areas and ahead of hope when enough work isn't done in undetected states.

Was glad to see grants coming out for so many states even if amounts are not commensurate to the losses.

That's what the paper said.
