Knew it wouldn't last forever - had our first skunk incident since moving into our house 10 yrs ago. Neighbor cat cornered one in a partially fenced in tomato patch, just as the wife was letting our lab out for her morning duties. Pretty sure the cat got the brunt of it, with Cam just getting some "blow by".

What size cage would best suit taking care of the offender? Unfortunately, coni-boxes are a no-go due to said neighbor cat.

If your hard headed, you better be tough. I'm pretty d**n tough.

Use any size cage you want and pretend that you're trapping something else. That seems to be the method everybody uses around here and it sure is successful.

I use two sizes one being a Bridger Skunk Trap 28" long by 7x7" tall and wide and the Bridger Raccoon Trap 32" long by 12x12" tall and wide. Either or will do the trick. Best advice for cage traps with skunks is to make a cover for them ahead of time. I use black canvas and anytime I catch a skunk in there I can simply scoop up the trap with the critter and away I go to dispatch it.

Option #2 is to not cover it and spend a little time coaxing down the tail as you work a towel or blanket over the trap to allow yourself to move the critter without getting sprayed. I do a lot of ADC work for skunks and coons in the city limits of Duluth, MN; honestly I prefer dealing with skunks more than raccoons using the first method.

Thanks for the replies. Didn't want to get something too small to be effective. Dog seems to be doing fine, but the garage is reeking pretty bad. Must have shot right towards the door!
