I use a shop vac and just sit the hose near the hole and let it run. It usually will take a day or two but it works for me.

Joe-

Depending what you are calling a yellow jacket and the size of the nest I would probabaly just use a $5 can or 2 of WASP FREEZE or equivalent from Home Depot or Lowes .

Since you state you have a bee allergy you should consider investing in a bee suit and have it available. Talk to your Doctor about having a Epi-Pen Injector for emergencies since Wasps and Bats is a pretty common thing we run into.

I dont think there has been a bat job I have looked at that I didnt have to kill bees. Stock up on eppi pens and have your doctors number on speed dial.

Quit killing bees! Or do you mean wasps, there is a difference you know.

One of my pet peeves, folks who should know better using incorrect terminology. Poisonous vs venomous snakes, poison ivy called oak anywhere east of the rockies, ants bite bees and wasps sting. You catch my drift.

Why use Wasp Freeze? It's a pinstream, that you need a direct hit, although it works instantly. CB-80, PT 565 or Raid flying insect killer will work much better. These are all contact insecticides that spray out in a mist. It takes 15-30 seconds to kill them. But as soon as they contact it they are gonna die.
Wasps are easy, the nest is open, give them a quick shot, back up five feet, wait a minute and they are done. Hornets have an enclosed nest and some will be on the outside as well as inside. I start with a shot at the ones on the outside, then if I can get to the opening I give a two second (at most) shot, then back away. Every couple of minutes, for about 10-15 minutes, I will check the outside for returning hornets. If they are flying around your head, just give a shot over your head.
They may have changed the formula of Wasp Freeze, but years ago, it would STAIN siding. I've been killing Wasp's and Hornet's for 13 years and never left a stain with the three I recommend. My local phone company had to redo siding on a whole house because of Wasp Freeze. $20,000 claim on insurance!
