Forgot to turn my phone on Vibrate last night found it under the dresser:) must have tossed it during the night. I love the calls that say I last saw him in the _________ room 2 hrs ago can you come out and find it?

Anyone else have the young starting to fly?

The ones I have seen still need a couple of weeks to mature before we begin work here.

We have newborn to volant and everything in between.
Bats seem to love to avoid being generalized. A month ago we had the same scenario and thought it was the peak.

Just surveyed some roosts this week and saw a nearly identical picture.

Keeps you on your toes!

And here I thought that my reading comprehension was top notch and then along comes Justin with volant.

Definition: Volant: A large ant that feeds almost exclusively on voles.

in years past most of the time by the 15th of july rolled around most of our young are in the air. this year it seemed like 2 weeks ago a lot of the young was heading out. the colony counts doubled from what the home owners are telling me, and we are seeing the little ones lost in the living spaces.

Sorry folks, volant meaning able to fly...... (though I like paul's hybrid vole killing ant idea!)

Animal control told one of my customers the other night, that the bat they took out was a baby fruit bat ( in south jersey ) Oh and that male bats do not go into the roost. I have a couple of my competitors saying the same stuff, guess they all read the same magazines LOL

Doing a bat inspection at a 2-story home and a tech form a MAJOR pest control company was doing a bug treatment next door. Asked what I was looking for (apparently he had never seen a ladder before). I told him I was going to take care of their bat issue, and he told the homewowner that it is best to leave bats in the attics as they kill all the mice. Can't make this stuff up man.

Vinke's eating fruit bats, Scheller's got mouse bats, Jonesie's got gay bats, Justin's bats are violent, boy if I ever run out of material for my WCT column, I know right where to get it. This stuff is golden!
