I get calls from time to time asking if I will pick up a unwanted dog or cat, once for a snake. We did rescue a hamster couple years ago and yesterday I rescued a Russian Tortoise. We named him Gus. We lost the hamster a couple weeks ago but I think ol' Gus will outlast us.

I used to pick up neglected/abused/abandoned dogs for a local Police Dept and take them to the pound. PD paid my bill as they did not work with a humane officer at the time for what ever reason. One of the neglected, malnourished, parasite and mange infested dogs I picked up four years ago is laying at my feet right now. Chocolate lab that cleaned up pretty nice, at the time he was 2 years old.
