I just read an article that reports that the Humane Society of the United States collected over 36 million dollars from donations for Katrina and Sandy. They gave less than one third of those donations to the hurricane victims. ( And kept the rest )
Since they aren't being prosecuted for anything, I guess this is a really great idea. Why can't we do the same thing? The next time we have a disaster, let the world know that we are the "Go to group" for seeing to it that native species are taken care of. Send us the bucks!
If you think that this is just me being funny again, you are wrong. We have a number of tax exempt organizations, just like HSUS. Even if we got prosecuted for something, so would they. Arguments?

Dave, there is apparently no deception involved. We will contribute one third of the proceeds to the cause, just like everybody else. I completely agree with your line of thinking but it seems to be perfectly alright to keep two thirds of everything you collect. If it's alright for people like HSUS, who have only their own interest at heart, wouldn't it be doubly alright for people like us, who have the interest of the public at heart?

1/3 is too much, all those callers for the "Police Assoc's" only give like 2% to the cop's widows/orphans, and the Cop's keep endorsing them.

When it comes to "Who is a non-profit?" I am conflicted. If you are taking the government for a ride, good for you. If you are trying to take God for a ride, well, that's between you and Him.( And your odds suck )
What I was trying to point out in this post is that I am not sure that we, as a group, are taking advantage of our non-profit status. I have been asked, as an individual, to make part of our company non-profit, to be able to accept free donations.
All I am asking is this, if PETA and HSUS can collect millions of dollars to make us look like idiots, what is to prevent us from doing the same to them? ( And unlike HSUS, we have even been known to tell the truth )
