I like using an extension paint brush pole. Mine is 10' long. You can buy a "skunk kit" from MTP, that has a NICE syringe set up, that screws right onto the paint pole.
I just buy syringes and needles from a farm supply store. Duct tape on it real tight and sturdy, OR Im' going be useing a hose clamps this season to tighten the syringe on the pole.
Sucking out the acetone on the pole is pretty hard to do by yourself if you already have the syring attached to a five foot pole, and the awkward can the acetone comes in.
Get some baby food jars and put acetone in them. Set them on the ground, open them, and suck out the acetone into the syringe that way. Much easier than trying to hole the pole, syringe and the metal container the acetone comes in.

30 feet?!? you must not be a talker, im pretty sure all but one of the skunks i ever dispatched i could have done it with just a syringe, but hey, im smooth like that
just got back, farm king was almost half again as expensive as tsc, but for 4 dollars total i figure im still ok, i got a 5pack of 16g 1" needles, and a 4 pack of 12cc syringes, my next question is about extracting essence, do you guys use the big needles for that, or would a smaller one work better? what do you store it in once you get it, and who buys it, i plan to use a little bit for myself, but if i get as many skunks as i think i can get this year id like to sell the essence too
whats the perfect length for the pole? should i include a sheild of some kind on it, what would set my pole apart from all others?

I was thinking more of a 50 caliber, 12 gauge shotgun with 00 buckshot... 30-06, stick of dynamite, hand grenade, A bomb, or napalm...
Did I ever say, I HATE SKUNKS

My husband just made a pole, his first attempt and we'll see how it goes. He used two lengths of pvc and threaded a bolt into one and that's how he screws the two lengths together. We picked up some syringes in the horse meds section and they fit snugly into the end. Now if we ever get a skunk we'll try our luck (yikes!) and if all works well I'll have a little stinker to mount. I've never seen an animal put down this way, so thanks Nick for the video as it looks quite humane and very quickly the job is done.

ok, i dont want to post pics untill i get it totally done, right now i have a 5' peice of outdoor conduit, 3/4" diamiter, with a 12cc syringe, tiped with a 1" 16gauge needle,
what i dont have is a plunger, i had everything else on hand, i cant for the life of me find a 5 foot long peice of anything that will fit inside the pipe, went to 3 different places to find aluminum tubeing, could not get anything close, got any better ideas about a plunger?
im still thinking about putting an ajustable pistol grip on it, and was wondering what color/colors to paint it, i dont want to set it down and forget about it, but im afraid if its bright orange it may upset the skunks, is there a nice soft color that would help calm the skunk down, or atleast not agravate him more than he is already

yupp, dowl rods are short, might have to lengthen it cause thats as close as i came, even tried to screw several chunks of shotgun cleaning rods together, that was neat, but bout 8 inches short, anybody use pnumatic type devices for this? a long time ago the guy that owns my favorite gun shop had a tranq gun for 35 bucks, it was like some fancy big bore air gun, i really reall wanted it, but the darts were somthing like 20 bucks a pop, and i didnt realy have a use for it then, but know i wish i bought it, filled with accetone i could kill form a distance

got any better ideas about a plunger? Check out the fiberglass chimney cleaning rods at Lowe's. They are 4 feet long, so you will need a couple of them.
