Folks, I use square, love square, but square is a third party and I found out today that doesn't work for some of the govt. folks I work for.

So, who has the best rate on non square, non paypal type accounts? I just checked with BOA services and they have a machine that rents for
$334.00 a year, plus 2.35% + .15 per xaction.

I would not use this method for any other client, but this client is a large one and I can't afford to lose their business for the year by not taking
a payment straight through a banking institution.

This was a new one for me and not how I wanted to start my day...

I use Vantiv. They have a simple service called dial pay. No machine to rent or buy. Just call in the # and the money is in you acct in 2 days. I am not sure what the exact rate is but I think it works out to around 3% when you figure in all the charges. I can't find there dial pay service on there website but you can call and ask about it

Getting set up with Authorize.net through Chase bank today. Really decent rates and I can use them for the store as well instead of square.

all my "large government projects" have direct deposited the funds.....

Vinke, I'll classify my per job as between $1,1100 and $3,000 with this entity. Our other contracts that have been larger with other govt. entities have been paid via check, which usually takes about 30 days, which is fine by me, but this vendor wants to use the card only all the time for this sized project payment.

I'm assuming the direct might be larger than my listed above? We do about 4-5 jobs for this entity so over a year it might be $15K total.

Pretty happy with Authorize.net. Like that we get an American at customer service.
