This from today's emails, thought some of you might get a kick out of it...

Quote:
Steve, I have been using traps as described for two weeks and have not caught the first mole and I have a roadmap of hills. If you will send a call slip so I can send back I won't give you a bad testimonial. What I ended up using and worked was Juicy Fruit gum.

Thanks anyway John I

Ignore it. You won't get any traction with somebody who uses Juicy Fruit. Doublemint is what works!

Steve,

How do you handle those emails? Do you let them return the traps or just chalk it up to crazy?

I'll tell you one thing: if I bought a set of tools and couldn't fix my car with them...I surely wouldn't ask for a refund on the tools!

I don't know Nate, but when you sell on ebay, you sort of have to swallow your pride, and do everything you can to avoid negative feedback, because it can hurt you. My ebay ads are marked "no returns" and it's a violation of ebay policy for the guy to try use the threat of negative feedback to get a refund, but trying to get a bogus negative feedback removed is time consuming, and not easy to do.

Hi, my name is Paul. We have never, ever, had a mole in this part of the country. That did not, however, keep me from becoming the president of Juicy Fruit.

There are all kinds of folks in this world. You can send his traps to me Steve. I will give you all the positive feedback you can handle. Maybe I can bait my mole traps with a piece of juicy fruit on the trap jaws for a better effect.

Man I was about to order few dozen more of your traps.... Someone should tell California that juicy fruit may kill moles, since everything else gets a special California warning. No way in the world I would live in California everything that is ok in the rest of the 49(or 56 for our POTUS) states will kill you in Cali.

(don't mind me a little dehydrated from bat work):)

Wonder if you baited the Steve's traps with juicy fruit gum might douple your chances . eBay is a funny place I see used up traps sell for more then brandnew same trap . Yesterday I sold a coffee maker I got out of the garbage for 56 bucks couple weeks ago sold these horse weighs for 50 to 60 bucks pop I got off a guy for two bucks each . Noticed them in this guys garage thought hey great weighs for beaver trapping ask him what he planed to do with them he said I've been trying to get rid of them . They were like 22 lbs each going to keep a eye out for them now . Seems like more used it is the better it sells . I know one guy puts his worn out jeans on there makes a killing

I once saw on E-Bay a Bridger # 5 DLS with a rusty logging chain being sold as an antique Bear trap. Last I looked it was over 100.00 plus shipping with a couple days to go.

That sucks Steve! Hope that isn't a common occurrence from knuckleheads! Sad when the system favors the side of the knothead!

Thanks for sharing that though, unbelievable!

OK guys, here's another one that just came in....

Quote:
Just received the traps today 8-29-13

couldn`t wait to try them out

I put them in dirt and wash my hands in the dirt to get rid of my scent

I was watching this guy from england who suggested about putting moth balls in front of the trap

So I`am going to trt it and see if what he said is true

he said the mole dosen`t like the scent of the mothball and will try to push it out

guess I`ll find out just set 4 traps two in the tunnels faceing both ways

time will tell

If this dose not work with the moth balls I`ll let you know

thanks for the fast shippment

Steve, I know your site has pictorial instructions on how to use your traps. I guess if you want to take the advice of someone other than the manufacturer you deserve what you get.
You ought to have some sort of "idiot clause" that voids any warranty.

forget the gum and the hair, sprinkle broken glass down the runs, being in the mole business for 10 years and i think i have heard about everything

neatest trap idea i ever saw though was a 12 gauge shotgun trap that fired when the mole pushed up on the pan destroying the mole....too bad it ain't legal in town LOL

This clears up a lot for me. I have customers throw mothballs all around my traps after I leave all the time. Never thaought that the animals would go into the trap to remove them. LOL

So far I haven't heard from him, so it must have worked.

But seriously, you're going to put a noxious smelling physical barrier IN FRONT of the trap? And that's going to help?

Hey, hey, hey, Steve, that obnoxious smelling barrier is how most of us caught our wives!

The set guns TRapper mentioned are legal here. If the proposed trapping ban passes next year they will be about the only good mole removal tool we will have. They work great, on gophers also, but are a bit of a liability. They are only legal out side of city limits as most have ordinances banning the discharge of a firearm and that is what they are.
There was an older fellow setting one in a near here last year and shot himself with it. Twas a good thing he was only using a 410 tube on his.
They are large and heavy. You need to dig a rather large hole to set two which are needed as with Steve's trap. They do not miss though. One farmer I know uses 12 blanks, starting gun ammo, and kills every mole that sets his guns off. Still a big liability if some one messes with is and shots themselves.
Steve will always get good feed back from me. His traps excel on the Coastal mole we have here. They will take the Townsend but a lot of times are a bit to small. OOS and Trapline traps are the only way to go but that is only my opinion.
If Steve could make a trap that was a bit larger but not quite as big as his gopher trap I would buy a bunch more Trapline traps for sure.
Ted Weis grin
P.S.
Had a woman walk into a field I was working a couple of days ago and tell me about he Juicy Fruit deal. I told her I would not get paid much if I did it that way and showed her how the OOS made sure I could get paid for my work.
