Any suggestions on tough waders? I am at the end of my second pair of cabelas canvas waders. Not much can penetrate them but the seams eventually start leaking and I get tired of spending money on aquaseal

Funny you mentioned this, early this morning I put my waders and my refrigerated tube of Aquaseal on the workbench so I would fix them this evening. I like that canvas materiel but OH the seams, I've had wet family jewels the last couple times I wore them, my quick fix was to wear a light pair of rain pants over my jeans. I bought a spare pair of old fashioned rubber waders from Bass Pro, tough and durable, but man are they a sweat house to wear this time of year.

Are you looking for knee high or chest? If you are good with cold weather style, I've not burned through mine yet, they were lacrosse swamp something. Very rugged, did lots of water work in them in MI, used them in OR and even pulled them out here in NM once. No leaks, 10+ years.

Hip boots I had and still do the lacrosse, both warm weather and winter weather style. The warm weather are prone to eventually tear or rip, but the cold weather haven't busted yet.

Neoprenes and others that are often warmer seem more prone to leaking, I've had to borrow some in various deployments I had and they nearly always leaked.

I have had a pair of Lacrosse Trapline hip boots for the last two years. Knock on wood, so for they have done good. Keep them out of the sun when not in use. That can ruin a pair of boots real quick.

Just because something is legal doesn't make it smart.

Maybe things have changed, maybe not. I have never seen the waders that cost twice as much as the cheap ones, last twice as long. My motto has always been: two sets of cheap waders, one good repair kit.

Paul I'm with you, there is no need for $300 waders that get torn on every under water Russian olive thorn.

Paul, a good point about cost, I bought my $300.00 swamp buster type from lacrosse through sierra trading post back then, with free shipping I believe they were $150.00! Whatever you buy, pays to look online.

I run lacrosse hip boots , Hogeman for my heavy weather ice cold water standing still chin deep and for highly moble ever day chest waders fog tog great light pair . All waders above feel good on my feet . Nice thing about today's neoprene waders is they sell a glue that melts that melts the neoprene back together . I forget the name of it think it's called pro something its not the stuff that comes with the wadders that doesn't hold long . For trapping you want light wadders
