I have a hickory tree and these squirrel come out the wood work this time of year to get them. I have no problem with that but they give me the chance to catch them cause they come from far and near.

I have many box traps I just set em no bait and catch a few a day....but would like to clean em up faster...should I bait ??

I hunt them in my back yard out of my Walnut trees and the bird feeder with a HP Pellet Rifle.

BigBob, before anyone else beats me to the punch, I never knew that Hewlett Packard made an air rifle. What number ink cartridge does it take?

Paul,
The HP 3D printer, Delux Model w/attachments (probably on backorder, so not listed in current catalog) would most likely work. For further information on 3D printing see-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_printing .cool

Bait- sunflower seeds or corn for bait is often very attractive to squirrels, so should help.

Note to self- Engage brain before opening mouth (or hitting the ENTER key/SUBMIT button).

That was an exceptionally good post Ron. I imagine those 3-D printers are going to come in really handy in combat. A soldier can print up whatever kind of armament he needs. ( I do get the feeling that they will be used mainly for swimsuit models though )

Thank you guys...have some of each on hand.

What amazes me is how I just leave open traps in the yard and seem curious enough to just walk and spring the trap

a) They don't end up in your freezer for yote/cat/fox bait
b) They could become someone else's problem.

On a Call, I've been asking that question for 25 years and I think the definitive answer is: Drum roll please; "You don't get to kill nothin."

Why kill the squirrels? Most places they are native species but I kill some because they are not and others due to damage the cause. I have recently started critter control for a Hazelnut grower. He has a bit of a squirrel problem with California ground squirrels, a native species, and Fox squirrels.
Fox squirrels are not a native species here and are deemed an Invasive Species by ODFW. The best way I have found to catch them is to use body grip traps. I secure them to the trees the squirrels are cutting from with supports that can be screwed on to the tree. I use mostly 110s but have caught some in 220s. One can surround the trees this way. If the squirrels are coming to your tree from another tree this probably will not work to well though.
