Doing a warehouse cleaning today. Realized we have lots of net scraps from bird jobs.

Many are large and yet I don't know how much is there.

Many would do other smaller nets.

Anyone have a go to method of dealing with bird netting?

Thinking a parking lot would be good to have space to see what I have
bundle and label it.

I wonder if there will be enough coffee and middle fingers to make it through the day.

I am with Pesky on this one. If you dont have any empty drums, trunk type packers, lided trash cans or feed sacs may suffice for packing and labeling with a wire tie tag of the type of net, color, size grid and approx. cut net size remnant.I have used our remnants of past bird netting jobs many times over the years.

Clear vinyl packing tape covering over the writing on the tag label in a lamination fashion will help preserve and protect the label for years to come so the identification information won't fade or wear off during storage.Use a permament marker not an ink pen for labeling.Punch a hole thru one end of your label and thread a string or wire piece to attach to your feed sac or other such storage container. I hang mine over head on hooks or nails in our shop. They arent very heavy.

Good thoughts Bob and Pesky!

Vinke, scraps are too big to throw away, though many still fall in the 10x10 or 10x20 area, I've had plenty of jobs where I just need some net for under soffits or dormers and these scraps can do a bunch of those jobs. Sometimes it is due to upsizing on the order, other times its the end of the roll it seems and you end up with extra from the supplier. Either way, its paid for in the original job so free to use on the next one and reduce the cost.

There are other scraps and things though that I agree, need to toss em, or the small shop gets smaller...

Good question: I discovered a long time ago that them things tangle on everything! All my pieces are under 50 square ft. and are rolled up and stuffed into woven-plastic dog- or horse-feed bags (the 50# size). I write approximate size on the outside of the bag in big letters (large, small, chimney). Size tag is a simple piece of tough plastic stuffed thru the mesh. Toss what you need into the truck and away you go!
