I've become so used to getting honest information from this site that it seems I just can't stop. We have Uverse from AT&T and we have everything for about $250 a month.

Today I have one of my customers coming over to sell me a Time/Warner package. Dish, Direct TV, everywhere I go they're trying to sell me cheaper packages.

So what's the deal? Are all of these companies going to be replaced by Internet packages? Why the big deal? I know that probably all of you are more cutting edge than me, so what's going on?

Soon all you will need is Internet, and you will only pay for what you watch. You can do it now, but it is not nicely packaged as of yet. You have to go to many different sites to get the content you want. I picked up a box at staples for $50 to play netflix $8 a month on, using a wireless router. I have cable Internet, so it is pretty fast not sure how dsl will be. The box I picked up can connect you to a bunch of different services IE hulu etc. You would pay less by going this rout, and still get the same or more content. Comcast and AT&T are about to loose a lot of money. You can find news articles about what is going on. The good thing is MSNBC will most likely be gone, but the bad news is you will be charged for bandwidth. If you watch a lot of TV and movies, the price will probably soar in the near future as more get on Internet TV. Comcast, and AT&T will still be the Internet provider, so I imagine they will hike the price to cover lost revenue from TV subscribers. So basically the best thing is junk that we pay for like Aljazeera, and MSNBC will be gone.

Phone is a lot cheaper over the net also, many have really good service. If you have TV/phone/Internet/cell phones on the same package I would stay with what you have, or maybe lower the TV to basic and pick up the slack with the new Internet services to save $.
