Kind of a new thing for me. I set a couple of cage traps on the roof of a house where it looked like coons were going into holes. This is a one story house with a few trees growing next to the house. I have caught a possum each of the last 2 days. One male and one female. Not where I usually find possums.

We find them in attics once in a while here, and not necessarily the easy ones to access either. We also have found them living in attics and under homes with raccoons present also. The opossums will be in one area and the coons in another. Usually the opossums we catch in these circumstances have a lot physical trauma evident, tails chewed off, ears missing, festering bites, etc. I assume that when the two species come in contact at the entry point the coons must really lay it on the opossums.

Yeah, I think of 'possums as slow, stupid & lazy. It's a wonder none have been elected to office!
They don't seem to climb as much as 'coons.

Jim, the opossums I have caught on the second floor of a building is probably less than 10. My only guess is that since opossums and I have a lot in common, they probably fall a lot too.

Yeah, well I caged one under a guy's dining room table couple weeks back. He had seen it twice and we couldn't find it. Searched everywhere.
I laid a drop cloth and set a catfood baited cage on it and had the possum the next morning. The owner wouldn't go back in the house until the possum was out.

Never argue with a fool - they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
