I think that peafowl are hardwired to only feel comfortable sleeping where they can hear their droppings hit a deck or sidewalk. Maybe it's a adaptation so that any tiger trying to snag a roosting peafowl slips on the hard slick surface underneath them and alerts them with tiger curses. So yeah, you would have to be deaf, no sense of smell, and no aversion to slipping in peacock guano on your porch. But, there are people out there who will pay $50 to a few hundred depending on whether you've got fancy color sports. Just so they can learn that, while beautiful, peafowl are loud, filthy, nasty tempered birds that aren't much good for anything but looking at or using to annoy your neighbors.

Guineas, now those are some interesting birds. People get those for tick control around here and swear by them. I even know people that keep them for snakes. I'm thinking of adding guinea installation to my list of services!

I worked for Mr. Hunter S. Thompson a few times with his peacocks. Foxes and dogs seemed to manage his herd just fine on their own.
