Now I'm not complaining too loud because this has been my most successful year ever on woodchucks. ( Thank you, Jim Comstock ) My question is: how come that in spite of above average temperatures ( 60s and 70s ) nobody has seen a woodchuck for a month? My last six woodchuck jobs have produced exactly zero woodchucks but I'm not getting any complaints because no one has seen one since the second week in September. The only thing that makes any sense is that all of our woodchucks have cable and went into hibernation early so they could watch the new shows.

The ones here are so fat it takes a buddy to stuff their fat arse back down the hole. They usually go into hibernation around the end of October in my area. It seems that hogs and dillos were both in low numbers this summer but higher in mangy fox.

Federal workers, part of the shutdown?

I think maybe it goes somewhat by the amount
Of daylight that triggers hibernation?

I wonder if there will be enough coffee and middle fingers to make it through the day.

Our rockchucks(marmots) start getting sleepy sleep around the end of August, by mid September the calls go to zero. I just completed an exclusion job under a prefab concrete communications building, there is a very very slight chance somebody is sleeping under there so I installed an excluder that will be removed in the spring. Do you have any idea how hard it is to cut a 5x5 hole in a brand new run of vinyl coated mesh and bolt an excluder to it? cry I'll go back in April and remove the excluder and crimp a patch piece in the hole, at least it's on the backside of the building. And the exclusion worked perfect, first night a coon tried to dig in and gave up after just a couple inches. grin
