Doing a squirrel and Raccoon job and just pulled two black Raccoons from this house. Both males. Common in your neck of the woods? Is the fur worth more?

Feel the fur. It should feel much softer than an ordinary raccoon. And I'm guessing they will be worth a lot more to a taxidermist than to a fur buyer who will tell you, " I can't match them up, so I can only give you half price."

I have an jumbo male on the stretcher. The fur is thick and luxurious, but guard hairs seem short. The heaviest raccoon I caught here in SE PA (24#) was black. The silvers always seem to fetch more at nafa, but the black one still sold for a good amount.

Keep one of the big one's... Get it tanned and pass it on to your kids. I caught one real big one and I got it tanned, Im hoping it lasts long enough so that when I have kids they can look at in and think its cool and hope fully they trap

The fur is very soft. Kids won't want it, but I guess a local taxidermist will want it. Thanks

Here in south Jersey I am seeing more Black phase coon. at least 4 or 5 a year but most of them are in the pups. I do not see those ugly yellows as much in my area any more. Thank GOD. Dose Oklahoma still have that burnt reddish color coon I use to see out there when I was a teen at my grandparents area up around Vinita/ welsh
