I just found out and wanted to pass it on if you didn't know already. A bill was registered this week in the house. Bill 1579 was introduced to ban use of conibears, footholds and snares leaving only cage traps. If this happens you guys will be in the same boat as Massachusetts. They have been without these tools for years now and beaver damage among other things are out of control. It is a lot harder to get it back than to stop it in the first place.

Never say it wont pass!

Steve Vaillancourt is the guy behind this. He sponsors this bill every year. The laughable thing about this is that he considers himself a libertarian.

This bill has never made it out of committee but he has been picking up more co-sponsors each time. I've already talked to everyone in the legislature who represents me and expect that the bill will die another quiet death.

BUT... this has to be taken seriously! We are just north of Mass. and a very large percentage of our population comes from there.

Once this is, again, pronounced DOA, I think it will be time to be proactive and get a rep. to craft a bill to ensure our rights as trappers and businessmen.
