Have any of you had problems with auto dialers calling your number? Not telemarketers, but robot callers, nobody is there. I do get a paying gig in the middle of the night sometimes, so I don't want to turn it off at night, but it's getting a little ridiculous. We have a pretty crappy phone provider out here in the sticks, so they haven't been much help, and the do not call registry, hasn't helped, so we are kind of out of options. Wondering what it costs for an answering service? Or, what it would take to set your phone up with one of those, "to talk to a representative, press one" features? Would it help to make the web references to the number a jpeg image? It is kind of depressing asking this without Robb around.

Yeah Andy, all day and half the night. I don't understand what they're trying to do. If they call and you don't answer, do they send a cat burglar over to your house? Besides being annoying enough that you want to scream, how do they make any money?

The ones that really hack me off are the robot spanish calls. If they really knew anything about me they would know my opinion on SPEAK THE LANGUAGE OR GET OUT.

I keep sports horn by the phone, and any time I get a cold call, I will give the bunghole a good shot in the ear. I have had some REALLY whizzed off people screaming things at me. LOL

We average at between 6 to 8 of those per hour a lot of days during business hours.

We have a full memory on our answering machine lots of days before noon with automated calls like that. Always wonder how much legitimate business they are costing us?

I would love to have someone to yell at, but nobody is ever there. I am with Paul, I'm very curious as to what benefit they are getting out of this. Ironically, although we are in Virginia, thanks to corporate mergers and what not, our phone company is based in Wisconsin of all places.

For All Of You: This has been our experience and we've tried just about every phone company that you can think of in the last 26 years.
We have three AT&T landlines. The only one that I would rate as good is our personal line which is part of our U-verse Package.

We finally dropped Verizon "press to talk" which not only saves us money, but now we can actually hear each other!

Only problem with making the number a jpeg. The dial feature in the smart phones wont pick the number up. Therefore people on the go will have to remember and dial the number. Not gonna happen this day and age. They will just move on along. Its ok if your the only game in town. But if not. Probally should seek another resolution.

Andy. Try hello inc in Richmond. We average 80 a month bill we roll at 5. Get them back at 8 am. All calls are text and emailed to you at 7 am. If it is a real emergency THEY will call you with the customer on the other line.
